Sweden arrests Russia on suspicion of espionage

Swedish security forces arrested in Stockholm, Russia suspected of being a spy, local police announced Wednesday.
Police said they arrested the suspect late on Tuesday, where he is believed to have been engaged in "criminal activity since at least 2017" and declined to name the suspect.

"We suspect that a Russian intelligence officer is working in Sweden under the cover of a diplomat who recruited him," said Daniel Stelling, head of the police anti-espionage unit.

Police said the detainee was working in the Swedish technology sector and had information about foreign intelligence services.

The Russian news agency said Russia's foreign intelligence service declined to comment on the matter.
