Mourinho "on the way back" to Real Madrid

Former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon said Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho was on his way back to the club.
"There is a good chance for Mourinho to be in the Real Madrid seat next season," Calderon wrote on his Twitter account on Thursday.

"I have a feeling, and more, that Mourinho will sit next season on the bench of Madrid."

Real came out of the semi-finals of the King's Cup on Wednesday after losing to Barcelona's arch-rivals Barcelona 3-0 in the semi-final after a 1-1 draw in Barcelona.

"Real played better than Barcelona and had more chances to win, but the scorer now lives in Turin," commented Calderon, who headed the club between 2006 and 2009, referring to Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real coach Julien Lobetigi was sacked early in the season after a tough loss to Barcelona 5-1 in the league, replacing Santiago Solari of the Castilla team.

Real are still in the Champions League and have struggled to beat Ajax Amsterdam 2-1 in the final leg of the final, but are far behind Barcelona in the Liga, where they are now third.

Mourinho oversaw Real between 2010 and 2013, scoring the league title in 2012 and the Cup in 2011.

The 56-year-old Portuguese coach has led Porto (2002-2004), Chelsea (2004-2007, 2013-2015), Inter Milan (2008-2010) and Manchester United (2016-2018).
