The chief designer of personal combat equipment at the Central Institute of Scientific Research has announced that new types of small arms ammunition are being developed for the Russian army.
"They have invented 12.7-millimeter incendiary munitions that can ignite heavy fuel," Igor Nikrasov was quoted by the TASS news agency as saying.

"The institute has also finished designing two other types of ammunition, one of which is a 5.45 milliliter armor."

He explained that the new munitions will give the Russian armed forces the ability to ignite diesel fuel, having been armed with shots capable of igniting gasoline fuel.

The Institute received a request from the Russian Ministry of Defense to design more accurate shots, which could penetrate the armor, to be added to the arsenal of equipment of the Russian soldier, known as "Ratnak", and includes equipment protection, communications, weapons and sophisticated ammunition.

Among the equipment of the revolutionary system, a self-heating heater, a filter for water purification, a gas mask and medical instruments.
